Herdsmen Leader In Ondo Hacked To Death By Suspected Kidnappers

A tragic incident has occurred in Ondo State, where a herdsmen leader, Aliu Yunusa, was killed by suspected kidnappers.

The unfortunate event happened as Yunusa was heading to his ranch near the Ilu-Abo junction in Akure South Local Government Area. Earlier in the day, the kidnappers had abducted Yunusa’s wife. However, he fought them off and successfully rescued her. Sadly, the attackers returned later, overpowered Yunusa, and hacked him to death.

Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, confirmed the incident. He revealed that the attackers were believed to be fellow Fulani herdsmen attempting to steal Yunusa’s cattle. Amotekun officers discovered Yunusa’s body, which showed multiple machete wounds. The attackers also set his motorcycle on fire.

The incident was reported to the Amotekun Corps’ Ogbese outpost by other herdsmen who found Yunusa’s body. In response, Amotekun officers have begun a thorough search of the forest to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

This tragic event highlights the growing concerns about insecurity in rural areas, particularly the rise of cattle rustling and violent crimes. Efforts by security agencies like the Amotekun Corps to address these issues remain crucial in safeguarding lives and property.
