In a successful operation on Wednesday, Nigerian troops from Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai prevented a drone attack by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Buni Gari. The drone, which was carrying a rocket, was spotted approaching the 27 Task Force Brigade headquarters around 4:35 PM.
Swift action by the Nigerian soldiers led to the drone being shot down before it could release its rocket. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts safely detonated the rocket, ensuring there were no casualties.
This marks the second such attack on a military base using drones, with the first incident occurring in Borno State, where five soldiers were injured. Despite the tense situation, Nigerian troops remain on high alert, and their morale is reported to be satisfactory as they continue to defend against such threats.
The general security situation in the area remains fluid, but the troops’ quick response demonstrates their effectiveness in countering new tactics used by the terrorist groups.
