DJ Ayobami Sodiq Ajisegiri, also known as Spending, who was a close ally of the late Nigerian music star Mohbad, has spoken out to clarify details about his last meeting with the singer. In a post shared on his social media on December 23, Spending denied hiding any information about Mohbad’s death after some confusion arose from his earlier statements.
Spending initially claimed that he last saw Mohbad at around 9 pm, but he now says the correct time was between 11 am and 12 pm on September 11, 2023. He admitted that the emotional distress and anxiety following Mohbad’s tragic death led him to mistakenly give the wrong time.
“I wasn’t in the right frame of mind when I was asked about the last time I saw him,” Spending explained. He went on to clarify that he had left Mohbad’s house between 3 pm and 4 pm on the day of the singer’s death, which matches the information he provided during the official inquest into Mohbad’s passing.
Spending also denied rumors that he had spoken about the circumstances of Mohbad’s death with social media influencers while in police custody. He refuted claims of any audio recordings or text messages about the situation, stating that the only conversations he had were with Westo and his assistant.
“I never intended to deceive anyone or hide the truth,” Spending said. “The pain of Mohbad’s death still weighs heavily on me, and I hope justice is served in his memory.”
