The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully arrested a notorious bandit and three suspected car snatchers in separate operations, recovering weapons and a stolen vehicle. These efforts highlight the ongoing fight against crime in the region.
On December 16, 2024, officers from the anti-kidnapping unit arrested 22-year-old Aliyu Umar in Zaria. Acting on credible intelligence, the police found him with eight AK-47 magazines and 50 rounds of live ammunition.
During questioning, Umar admitted he was part of a notorious bandit group operating in Zamfara State. He disclosed that he had traveled to Barikin Ladi, Jos, to collect the weapons from an accomplice whose identity remains unknown.
In a separate operation on the same day, police officers posed as buyers to apprehend three car snatchers trying to sell a stolen vehicle.
The suspects—Kefas Danladi (24), Usman Salisu (23), and Yusuf Danladi (22)—were arrested after officers confirmed their suspicious activities. Investigations revealed they had stolen the vehicle from a resident’s home in Naval Quarters, Asokoro, Abuja.
The rightful owner of the car has been notified, and the vehicle was returned. Further investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will face legal action.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Abdullahi, assured residents that the command remains committed to ensuring safety and security. He urged citizens to report suspicious activities promptly to help curb crime in the state.
These arrests demonstrate the police’s dedication to tackling crime and protecting the public.
