Nigerian football stars Ademola Lookman and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been named in the final shortlist for the prestigious CAF Player of the Year awards. Lookman competes in the men’s category, while Nnadozie represents the women’s category.

CAF (Confederation of African Football) made the announcement yesterday. Alongside these individual honors, Nigeria’s national teams, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons, also reached the final shortlist for the Team of the Year award.

Ademola Lookman, who plays for Atalanta in the Italian Serie A, gained global recognition last season by scoring an incredible hat-trick in the Europa League final, leading his team to victory. He also played a vital role in the Super Eagles’ journey to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they narrowly lost to Côte d’Ivoire. His outstanding performance earned him a spot in the AFCON Team of the Tournament.

For the CAF Player of the Year award, Lookman faces stiff competition from South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Côte d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy.

Chiamaka Nnadozie, a key player for Nigeria’s Super Falcons and a standout goalkeeper, continues to shine on the international stage. Her consistent performances have solidified her reputation as one of Africa’s best players.
