Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri has addressed the pressure some producers place on actors to deliver one million views per day for movies uploaded on YouTube.
Known for her successful YouTube videos, Ruth used Instagram to call out this growing trend, encouraging actors not to feel overwhelmed by such demands. She pointed out that good production involves much more than just the popularity of an actor’s face.
In her message, Ruth wrote:
“Dear Nollywood actors! Don’t let producers put pressure on you to deliver one million views per day. If they depend only on your face for success, they’ve failed. A good movie requires more effort than that.
“One million views is not the standard for success or failure. Many don’t understand how YouTube works, so don’t let their ignorance take away your joy.”
She further added in her caption, “It’s often those who never invest in others that are quick to criticize and make unrealistic demands.”
Ruth’s bold statement has sparked discussions in the Nollywood industry, highlighting the challenges actors face when dealing with unrealistic expectations from producers.
Several actors responded to her post, expressing gratitude for shedding light on the issue.
