The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration is taking significant steps to boost development through improved road infrastructure. Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the FCT, has launched the construction of a new access road in Giri District, Abuja.

The road, which will lead to the site of the new Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) academy, is part of a broader plan to open up the FCT for development. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on December 5, 2024, Barr. Wike highlighted the project’s benefits, including supporting real estate growth, improving market access for farmers, and reducing congestion in Abuja’s city center.

“Some parts of the FCT remain underdeveloped because they lack access roads,” Wike said. “With this road, more people will develop this area, which will help us decongest the city.”

The Minister emphasized that the road project is not exclusive to the EFCC but aims to open up the Giri District for everyone. “This road will benefit the community, allowing more houses to be built and farmers to bring their produce to the city. EFCC is just one of the beneficiaries,” he clarified.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the project with the necessary funding and assured contractors that funds were available to complete the work on schedule. The road is expected to be ready by May 2025, coinciding with the President’s second year in office.

This road project demonstrates the FCT Administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and creating opportunities for residents across the territory. It’s a step toward a more connected and developed Abuja.
