A man named Abu Umar has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State after he was linked to the kidnapping of his former employer and her two children. The arrest followed the kidnappers’ use of the suspect’s phone number to contact the victims’ family.
The abduction took place on November 7, 2024, in the Gidanrogo area of Ajase-Ipo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State. The victims, Isiaka Halimah and her two sons, Kabir and Hassan Isiaka, were taken by the kidnappers. The suspect, Abu Umar, had previously worked for the family.
Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, the State Commandant of NSCDC, confirmed the arrest during a press conference on December 2, 2024, at the NSCDC Command headquarters in Ilorin. He reassured the public of the Command’s dedication to combating crime and keeping Kwara State safe.
