A 27-year-old man from Erinmo-Ijesa, Osun State, has been arrested for stealing farm produce in the area. According to reports, the suspect, identified as Obideyi, was caught after taking cocoa and bananas from a farm and trying to hide in an unfinished building.

The arrest was confirmed by Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele, during a press briefing on December 2, 2024. He explained that the suspect was tracked down after the Corps received a tip-off from residents. Acting swiftly on the information, the operatives located and captured Obideyi in his hiding place.

During questioning, Obideyi admitted to the theft and confessed that he had been involved in similar crimes before. He revealed that he would sell stolen farm produce to willing buyers.

The suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation.

Commander Omoyele urged residents of Osun State to remain vigilant and report any unusual activities in their communities to security agencies. He stressed that community cooperation is essential to ensuring swift action against crimes like this.

By staying alert and working with security teams like the Amotekun Corps, communities can help prevent criminal activities and protect their local resources.
