A shocking incident has occurred in Oke-Oha village, Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, where a 49-year-old community chief, Ogunleye Olaegbe, was killed on his farm.
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Baale (community leader) was working on his farm when suspected herdsmen attacked him. According to reports, the attackers shot him multiple times, dragged his body into a nearby bush, and left him there.
Community members later found the Baale lying lifeless in a pool of blood. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that the victim was shot in the chest. The police, along with other security personnel, visited the scene, documented the crime, and moved the body to Ayetoro General Hospital for an autopsy.
A preliminary investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to arrest the perpetrators. To ensure safety, security in the area has been heightened to prevent further attacks.
The tragic death of Ogunleye Olaegbe has left the community in deep sorrow, as they mourn the loss of a respected and dedicated leader.
