Nasiru Buba, the man who accused Jigawa’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, of having an affair with his wife, has rejected the recent ruling from a Sharia Court that cleared the commissioner of any wrongdoing.
In a decision by the Kano Upper Shari’a Court, the case against Sankara was dismissed, with the judge, Ibrahim Sarki Yola, explaining that there was insufficient evidence to prove the accusation. The court also noted that the police investigation found no evidence against the commissioner, leading to the case being thrown out.
However, Buba is not satisfied with the court’s decision. He insists that he provided strong evidence, including 854 pictures, over 100 video clips, more than 200 WhatsApp voice notes, and over 500 hours of phone call records to the police to prove his case.
“Most of these evidences I got them through my wife, Tasleem. If the court cleared them, they are not cleared in the eyes of God and the eyes of people who know the truth about the situation. I leave everything to Allah and he will be the judge, Insha Allah.” Buba said.
Buba’s lawyer, Rabi’u Sidi, expressed concern that they were not informed about the court session and could not attend. The legal team plans to meet soon to discuss the next steps in the case.
He said, “We are a very important and necessary party to this case, despite this nobody communicated with us, nobody told us that there will be any sitting in the court, we just heard the ruling in the news.”
This controversy started on August 17, 2024, when the Kano State Hisbah board arrested Commissioner Sankara with a married woman at an unfinished building. The commissioner has denied the allegations, claiming that no wrongdoing took place.
