On November 7, 2024, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested Amir Mohammed, a 24-year-old man from Ja’en Quarters in Kano, after he was linked to a violent armed robbery. The arrest took place at Sharada Federal Housing Estate in Kano while NSCDC officers were on duty.
According to a statement from Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Kano, the suspect broke into the home of Mustafa Abubakar, a local resident. He attacked Abubakar and his family, stabbing the victim 11 times in vital areas of his body, including the neck and chest. The suspect tried to rob Abubakar of his smartphone and laptop in an effort to steal money by accessing his bank accounts.
The victim, who was seriously injured, was rushed to the hospital for medical care.
Investigation revealed that the suspect had also been involved in a robbery on November 1, when he stole two SIM cards from the same victim. Authorities are still searching for another suspect, Abbas Danmama, who is believed to be involved in the crime but is currently on the run.
The case has now been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and legal action.
