In a tragic turn of events, three individuals have been arrested in Argentina in connection with the death of singer Liam Payne, formerly of One Direction. The 31-year-old singer died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires.
Authorities have charged one person with abandonment leading to death, as well as supplying and facilitating drugs. The other two individuals, including a hotel employee, are facing charges related to drug supply and facilitation. The names of the suspects have not been released to the public.
Liam Payne had been staying at the CasaSur hotel, where staff made multiple emergency calls, reporting that he had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol and drugs and was destroying his hotel room. After his death, police found drugs and damaged furniture in his room.
Toxicology reports later revealed that Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system. The post-mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was multiple injuries caused by the fall. Medical reports suggested that he may have been unconscious or semi-conscious at the time, which ruled out the possibility that the fall was voluntary or intentional.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the case has caught the attention of fans worldwide. Liam Payne’s body was released to his family on November 6, and it will be returned to the UK for burial.
