A man named Ridwan Oke recently shared a troubling story about an experience with his co-tenants that made him question human greed and selfishness. After being without electricity for three days, Oke decided to use his generator to pump water for the entire compound, hoping to help everyone during the power outage.
He explained that he always kept his generator for situations like this, offering his help without asking for anything in return. However, after the water was pumped, one of his co-tenants took the water and sold it to outsiders, leaving the rest of the apartment without access to it.
Oke was shocked and disappointed by this selfish act, wondering why people can sometimes be so greedy, even when someone is trying to help. His story has sparked a deeper conversation about human nature and the ways in which some individuals take advantage of kindness.
He wrote on X: ‘‘We haven’t had electricity in three days. I reserved my generator for times like this so I could pump water with it for myself and co tenants. I’ve always done this without asking anyone for a dime.
“I found out yesterday that as soon as I switched on the Gen, a tenant bypassed the water to the reservoir and she was selling the water to neighbors. The main apartment that was supposed to have water didn’t.
“I was using petrol to pump water, someone is selling it and making cool cash.
“Why are humans so selfish and greedy?”
