The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that 25 million Nigerians have received a cash transfer of ₦25,000. This information was shared by the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, following a meeting of the National Economic Council chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Wale Edun explained that this cash transfer is part of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to support Nigerians facing challenges due to the removal of subsidies and other economic policy changes. He mentioned that five million households have directly benefited from this program.

Additionally, in the past five days alone, around 11,000 beneficiaries received a total of ₦3.5 billion through a consumer credit scheme. Edun also noted that over ₦90 billion has been distributed to half a million students through the student loan program.

This initiative aims to provide financial relief to those affected by recent economic reforms and to assist students in managing their educational expenses.
