On Friday morning, a minor fire broke out at the Federal Ministry of Works headquarters located in Mabushi, Abuja. The incident occurred around 11:30 am and was caused by a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room. Fortunately, the fire was quickly controlled, and there were no significant damages or injuries reported.
Mohammed A. Ahmed, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry, explained that the fire was sparked by an issue with the circuit breaker on the ground floor. Firefighters from the Federal Fire Service responded swiftly to the scene, led by Station Commander Kekai Bekebi, who utilized fire extinguishers to manage the situation effectively.
Commander Bekebi highlighted that all staff members were successfully evacuated, and there were no injuries. Aliyu Abdullahi, the Director of Human Resource Management, echoed this by stating that no documents were lost, and the staff acted commendably during the evacuation process.
After the fire was extinguished, maintenance personnel took care of the cleanup and ensured that normal operations resumed shortly after.
