PDP Leader Ewoh Claims Wike Has Never Won Elections Based on Popular Votes and Labels Him a “Destroyer”

In a recent interview, Nnam Robinson Ewoh, a prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, launched a scathing attack on Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Ewoh accused Wike of being a “destroyer” of the party and claimed that he has never won an election based on popular votes. Instead, he alleged that Wike resorts to violence and manipulation to secure his victories.

During the interview, which aired on the Symfoni platform, Ewoh expressed his belief that Wike’s political career has been marked by dishonesty. He stated, “For Wike to win elections, they have to write results for him. He has never won an election by popular vote.” This assertion highlights Ewoh’s view that Wike’s victories are not a reflection of genuine public support but rather the result of fraudulent practices.

Ewoh went on to emphasize that Wike does not believe in true democratic processes. “Wike does not believe in elections, and he cannot participate in any popular election,” he declared. This remark indicates a deep-seated frustration within the PDP regarding Wike’s influence on the party and the electoral process in Rivers State.

Despite the ongoing tensions between Wike and the current Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, Ewoh remains optimistic about Fubara’s prospects for re-election in 2027. He asserted, “What will determine Governor Fubara’s return in 2027 are Rivers votes, not Wike’s vote.” According to Ewoh, Wike’s political power is dwindling, and his single vote will not be enough to impact the outcome of the upcoming elections.

Ewoh also pointed out that Wike’s involvement in the PDP has led to a decline in the party’s fortunes. He stated, “Since Wike began playing a key role in the PDP, the party started declining. He has never been a success story for the PDP. Wike has been a disaster for the PDP.” This criticism underscores Ewoh’s belief that Wike’s leadership style has negatively affected the party’s growth and stability.

In his comments, Ewoh did not just focus on Wike’s role within the PDP; he also issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding Wike’s potential behavior. He urged the President to be cautious with Wike, suggesting that the minister might turn against him as political dynamics continue to shift. This warning reflects concerns within the PDP about Wike’s loyalty and motivations as political alliances change.

Ewoh’s remarks have sparked discussions among political observers in Rivers State, with many considering the implications of his statements for the future of the PDP and the broader political landscape in Nigeria.
