At a town hall in the Philadelphia suburbs on October 14, 2024, Donald Trump surprised his supporters by dancing on stage for 30 minutes, turning the rally into an unexpected concert.
The event was interrupted twice by medical emergencies in the crowd. After the first emergency, Trump paused the question-and-answer session while a doctor helped the person in need. During this pause, Trump requested “Ave Maria” to be played. An instrumental version of the song was played, but during a second medical emergency, Trump clarified that he wanted Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti’s version of the song.
“They probably can’t afford it, sir, in this economy,” Noem quipped.
Once the second person was able to move again, Trump continued speaking for a few minutes but then decided to wrap up the night differently. Instead of answering more questions, he asked for some music to be played and suggested the audience relax and enjoy it.
“Those two people who went down are patriots,” Trump said after the music. “We love them. And because of them, we ended up with some great music, right?”
Trump requested the song “YMCA” by the Village People, which is usually the signal for the end of his speeches. However, this time, Trump stayed on stage, dancing to a playlist that included Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Rufus Wainwright’s cover of “Hallelujah,” and “November Rain” by Guns N’ Roses.
“Nobody’s leaving,” Trump said. “What’s going on?”
For the next 30 minutes, Trump continued to dance and enjoy the music as the crowd cheered him on. The rally, which began as a political event, ended on a festive note, leaving many in the audience surprised and entertained. What started as a typical town hall turned into an impromptu concert, with Trump taking center stage as both speaker and dancer.
CNN reporter:
“Trump decided the thing he would do instead of taking questions would be to start calling out songs he wanted played and dance. It went on for 39 minutes. People in the crowd seemed somewhat confused. One of the people on stage was checking things on his phone.” pic.twitter.com/HZg8k43gXx
