The turmoil began several weeks ago when a young man was kidnapped in the area. His family paid a ransom, expecting his safe return. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, he was not released, and it was later revealed that he had been murdered. This betrayal devastated the community and heightened fears about the growing threat of kidnappers.
A source close to the situation, speaking anonymously, reported that residents were particularly incensed by allegations of police negligence and complicity. Many locals believe that the police have been protecting the suspected kidnappers, specifically linking them to Fulani herdsmen who have been accused of various violent acts in the region, including organ harvesting.
Feeling abandoned and powerless, the youths of the community decided to take action. They managed to track the kidnapper’s phone and handed him over to the police. However, the youths soon felt that the police were not taking the matter seriously enough.
