A tragic event unfolded early Monday morning at a club in Lagos, where a bouncer named Kingsley Otti was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man to death. The incident took place around 3:30 am in the parking lot of a lounge located on Ago Palace Way in the Okota area.
According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the fight broke out between Otti and the victim, leading to a serious altercation. The victim lost consciousness and was quickly rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The statement read, “On Monday, at about 11:30 am, the manager of a club and lounge, located at Ago Palace Way, Ago-Okota, reported to the Ago-Okota Division that on the same day at about 3:30 am, a yet-to-be-identified adult male, suspected to be a hoodlum, was allegedly stabbed by the club’s bouncer, one Kingsley Oti, during an altercation between them at the club’s car park.
In the process, he became unconscious.
He was rescued and rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Mushin, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”
Following the incident, detectives from the Lagos State Police Command visited both the crime scene and the hospital to collect evidence and inspect the victim’s body. This incident has raised concerns about safety in nightlife areas, and investigations are ongoing.
“The corpse has been removed and deposited at the Mainland General Hospital Morgue, Yaba, for autopsy,” he added.
