Shannon Amos, the daughter of late Hollywood actor John Amos, has shared a painful revelation about her father’s death. She stated that she and her family found out about his passing through the media, a shocking 45 days after he had already passed away.
John Amos, best known for playing James Evans Sr. on the popular TV show Good Times, died at the age of 84 on August 21 in Los Angeles from natural causes. However, it wasn’t until October 1 that his son, K.C. Amos, officially announced the news. Shannon shared the emotional moment online, expressing the pain her family is enduring.
In her post, Shannon wrote, “We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you.” She described the conflicting emotions her family is dealing with, trying to process their loss while not knowing why it took so long for the news to reach them. She also mentioned finding some peace in the thought that her father is now free from suffering.
While the family grieves, Shannon also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received. She thanked everyone for their kind words, calls, and prayers, asking for continued thoughts for her family during this difficult time.
This tragic news comes after a public dispute between Shannon and her brother K.C. in November 2023. Shannon had accused K.C. of elder abuse, claiming that he isolated their father, mishandled his finances, and neglected his medical needs. She even provided documentation to authorities in Colorado and New Jersey to investigate her claims. K.C., however, denied all allegations and said his sister was trying to damage his reputation.
Amid the family tension, K.C. has been working on a documentary about their father, titled America’s Dad. Despite their ongoing disagreements, both siblings continue to honor their father in their own ways.
