Recent events have brought old tweets from Ryan Wesley Routh, the man arrested for attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, back into the spotlight. On Sunday, Routh fired shots near Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Fortunately, Trump was not injured, thanks to the quick response from the US Secret Service.
Among Routh’s resurfaced tweets is a June 2020 message where he expressed frustration with Trump. He had written, “@realDonaldTrump While you were my choice in 2016, I and the world hoped that President Trump would be different and better. We were disappointed, and you seem to be getting worse. Are you retarded? I will be glad when you’re gone.”
The Secret Service is continuing its investigation into the incident. It’s also important to remember that a similar assassination attempt was made during Trump’s campaign in Pennsylvania.
