There is rising tension in Enugu after gunmen killed the Chairman of the Ogbete Market Amalgamated Traders’ Association (OMATA), Mr. Stephen Aniagu, on Saturday night. Mr. Aniagu was shot in the Topland Area of Enugu by attackers suspected to be assassins.
The gunmen killed Mr. Aniagu and fled the scene with his car, leaving residents in shock. A video circulating online shows the market chairman’s lifeless body, with people gathered in disbelief. The incident has caused fear and unrest in the city, especially since the Enugu State Police have not yet released a statement regarding the murder.
As the community waits for answers, there is a growing sense of insecurity in the area, with residents calling for swift action by law enforcement.
