The young man, who had been suffering from leg pain, traveled a significant distance from Ijebu Ode to Asa Elegbada Village, located near Owode Egba, to purchase the remedy from a local herbalist.
Monday Ederemo had been dealing with discomfort in his right leg, prompting him to seek out traditional treatment. The herbal remedy was obtained from Ifakunle Olanrewaju, a 28-year-old traditional attendant known for his practice in administering herbal concoctions. Olanrewaju is recognized in the area for providing such remedies, and Ederemo was a regular customer.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Ederemo visited Olanrewaju to acquire the herbal mixture. However, the following morning, at approximately 7:00 am on Thursday, September 12, 2024, Ederemo was discovered dead at his home. The sudden death raised concerns and led to an immediate investigation.
Olanrewaju reported the incident to the authorities, stating that Ederemo had purchased the herbal mixture the previous day and had unfortunately passed away shortly afterward. This report led to Olanrewaju being taken into custody for questioning.
