On August 29, 2024, Dr. Utoo Joshua Msughter, a 47-year-old medical doctor, was tragically shot dead by gunmen while traveling in his car from Ugba to Anyiin in Benue. The attack occurred on the road, and the community is deeply saddened by his untimely death.
Dr. Msughter was buried on September 11, 2024, in a heartfelt ceremony in Tse-Ordi, Mbabagu, Mbawar, Gaambe-Tiev, within the Logo Local Government Area. Family member Anume Robertson Goma shared photos of the emotional burial, highlighting the community’s grief.
This incident is part of a disturbing pattern of violence in the Sankera region of Benue, where there has been a recent increase in mass killings, kidnappings, and property destruction. The unrest is suspected to be linked to the remnants of the notorious gang once led by the late militia leader, Terwase Akwaza, also known as Gana.
