In a tragic turn of events, Mr. Samson Omoarebokhae, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, was killed by gunmen on August 31, 2024. Omoarebokhae was traveling from Ozalla community to Uhomora community in Owan West Local Government Area when the attack occurred.
The news of Omoarebokhae’s death was confirmed by Mrs. Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media. In her condolence message, Mrs. Adodo-Ebojele expressed the Speaker’s profound sorrow and described Omoarebokhae’s death as a significant loss to both the Assembly and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In response to this devastating news, a delegation was promptly dispatched by the Speaker. Led by Mr. Odion Iruobe, the Speaker’s Chief of Staff, the team visited the bereaved family to offer their condolences and support during this difficult time.
The message read.
“He commiserated with the family of the slain SSA and urged them to draw strength from God’s promises of not leaving those in mourning comfortless
“The Speaker assured that he would do everything within his powers to ensure the killers are arrested and made to face the wrath of the law
“He stated that, though it’s a painful situation, he prayed God in His infinite power to give the family a reason to smile again
“He prayed to God to repose the soul of the deceased and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
The loss of Omoarebokhae is felt deeply by all who knew him and worked alongside him, underscoring the ongoing challenges and dangers faced by public servants.
