The Amaeze community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State is in deep sorrow after the unexpected loss of a family of four. On Sunday, September 1, 2024, a woman, her mother, daughter, and sister tragically passed away in their sleep, leading to widespread fear and uncertainty within the community.
The exact cause of their deaths is still unclear, but some locals have speculated that food poisoning might be responsible. The four victims had shared a meal the night before the tragic event.
The traditional ruler of the community, HRH Igwe Felix Ugwu, confirmed the incident on Monday. He explained that one of the victims, known as Mama Chijioke Amaeze, had been caring for her sick mother before the tragic event claimed the lives of her mother, her sister, and her daughter.
Authorities from the Nsukka Police Division have taken the bodies for autopsy and further investigation. Meanwhile, the community has turned to spiritual means to uncover the cause of this mysterious tragedy.
“Our community has been deeply shaken by this incident. We have never experienced anything like this before, and we are working to understand what could have caused such a devastating loss,” Igwe Ugwu stated.
