In a heartbreaking incident in Lagos, a man has been detained by police following allegations that he pushed his younger brother, leading to the brother’s death. The tragic event occurred in the Iba area and was reported to the authorities on August 24.
According to a statement from SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, the suspect, Ayodeji Busari, is accused of pushing his 47-year-old younger brother during a confrontation. The younger brother had recently traveled from Port Harcourt to Lagos to visit a friend when the altercation took place.
During the argument, Ayodeji allegedly pushed his brother, causing him to fall and hit his head on a pavement. The impact rendered the victim unconscious. Emergency medical services rushed him to Igando General Hospital for immediate treatment. Despite medical efforts to save him, the brother was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
Following the incident, detectives from the Lagos State Police Command visited the scene to gather evidence and document the circumstances. Photographs were taken, and the victim’s body was transported to Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti-Yaba, where further investigations will take place to understand the full details of the confrontation and determine the appropriate legal actions.
