Three men involved in swapping ATM cards to scam people have been arrested by the Kaduna State Police. The suspects were caught after police received reliable information about their activities. The police recovered 54 ATM cards and a Point of Sale (POS) machine from the suspects.
The arrested individuals were identified as Umar Ya’u from Zoo Road, Kano; Abdullahi Bukar from Tudun Wada, Kaduna; and Hussaini Sulaiman, also from Zoo Road, Kano. These men were known for hanging around ATM machines, pretending to help people who were having trouble using the machines. During this process, they would secretly swap the victim’s ATM cards, allowing them to withdraw money without permission.
The police discovered that the suspects had defrauded several people in Kano, Kaduna, and Zaria. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Audu Dabigi, assured the public that the police are dedicated to keeping the community safe. He also urged everyone to be careful about accepting help from strangers at ATM machines and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
