The Nigerian Police have arrested a popular pastor, his wife, their son, and three others in connection with the tragic murder of a College of Health student in Offa, Kwara State. The primary suspect is Adebayo Joshua Happiness, the son of Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi, better known as Prophet Ogunse.
On August 9, 2024, Awesu Mojisola, a student at the College of Health in Offa, received a phone call from her friend, Kolawola Timileyin. Timileyin passed on a message from Adebayo Joshua Happiness, who had been expelled from Summit University, Offa. Joshua invited Mojisola to a sign-out party at Whitefield Hotel in Ilorin, promising her Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000) to attend.
Mojisola agreed and traveled to Ilorin later that day. However, after arriving, she contacted her friends, expressing discomfort and concern as there was no sign of a party at the location. Tragically, Mojisola was later found dead.
The police investigation led to the arrest of several suspects, including Joshua’s parents, Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi and Adeniyi Bukola. The couple was apprehended after trying to hide evidence following their son’s arrest. It was discovered that they retrieved Joshua’s belongings from his school and attempted to conceal crucial evidence.
The police recovered an iPhone 11 Pro, which belonged to Mojisola. Initially, Joshua claimed he had thrown the phone into the Afelele River in Offa, but the phone and its SIM card were later found in his parents’ possession. The SIM card had been hidden within a wall near their home by Mrs. Adeniyi Bukola.
Further investigation revealed that the staff at Whitefield Hotel, where Mojisola’s body was discovered, unlawfully disposed of her body at a refuse dump instead of reporting the incident. All suspects involved in this crime have been arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy and tampering with evidence.
The Kwara State Police Command has assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that the suspects will be charged in court. They remain committed to ensuring justice for Mojisola and maintaining peace and security within the community.
As the investigation progresses, further updates will be provided to the public.
