Kidnappers Caught Selling Children in Anambra State

Two men, Chukwuma Okonkwo and Ifeanyi Okafor, were arrested in Anambra State for kidnapping and selling children. Both men, who hail from Abagana, Anambra State, were apprehended by operatives of the Special Squad Aguiyi.

In a video confession, Chukwuma and Ifeanyi admitted to abducting children and selling them for profit. They revealed that they used the money to stay in hotels and live lavishly, leading people to mistakenly believe they were involved in internet fraud (commonly known as “Yahoo Yahoo”).

One of their victims, a young boy named Chinemerem, who appears to be under five years old, recounted his experience. He said he was taken from his parents’ shop by the kidnappers, who were about to sell him when the special squad intervened and rescued him.

When asked by an officer what should be done to the criminals, Chinemerem simply replied, “flog them.”

Chukwuma, during his confession, stated, “We steal children and sell them. There are three of us involved.”

“One of our gang members is Chikwado from Ogidi, with Arab, and me (both from Abagana).”

Chukwuma said: “We kidnap a child and they give us commission after selling the child.

“We also steal machine (motorcycle) and sell.”

He added: “People think we are into Yahoo but we are not.

“But there is no other crime we don’t commit.

“My main job is kidnapping children. I also steal in addition to it.

“Our gang leader is Chikwado from Ogidi. Chikwado’s wife is also involved. She’s from Awkuzu.”
