Tomatoes, yam record price drop in Nigeria

The prices of tomatoes and yams have dropped significantly in Nigeria, according to the National Bureau of Statistics . Tomatoes dropped by 26.43% to N1,693.83 per kilogram in July, while yams also experienced a price drop .

This decrease in prices is due to the harvest season and improved supply, and it’s expected to ease the cost of living and reduce pressure on households. Other staple foods like garri, potatoes, and peppers have also seen a drop in prices, offering relief to many households.

Despite the year-on-year increase, tomatoes and yams have seen a drop in prices on a month-on-month basis . Tomatoes dropped by 26.43% to N1,693.83 per kilogram, while yams dropped by 10.82% to N1,802.84 per kilogram .

This decrease in prices is due to the harvest season and improved supply, and it’s expected to ease the cost of living and reduce pressure on households .

Other staple foods like garri, potatoes, and peppers have also seen a drop in prices, offering relief to many households . However, it’s important to note that prices of eggs, beans, and garri have increased on a month-on-month and year-on-year basis .
