Nigerian veteran musician Baba Fryo has recently voiced his frustration after accusing singer and skitmaker Nasboi of stealing lyrics from his famous hit song, Denge Pose. The controversy erupted after Nasboi released his new track titled Short Skirt, which Baba Fryo claims uses lines from his iconic song without permission.
In a video that has now gone viral on social media, Baba Fryo did not hold back his anger. He called out Nasboi for what he describes as intellectual property theft and demanded proper credit and compensation for his work. Fryo made it clear that if Nasboi doesn’t reach out to resolve the issue, he will consider taking legal action to protect his rights.
Baba Fryo’s Denge Pose was a massive hit back in the day, and it remains a memorable song in Nigeria’s music history. Fryo’s stance on protecting his creative work has sparked discussions about intellectual property and the importance of giving due credit in the music industry.
Nasboi has yet to respond to the allegations. Fans and industry watchers are keeping a close eye on the situation to see how it unfolds.
Speaking in pidgin, he said,
“Nigerians, I greet una. This thing don dey happen e don tey. And I was not happy with it. But now I want to take action.
“You see that song wey Naboi sings about ‘short skirt’. My lyrics ‘Dengo dey denge Denge’ are inside the verse. So, anybody wey know Naboi should tell him to reach out to me before water go pass geri.
“As you are looking at me, I’m not happy but this one must be the last time that anyone will use my song without telling me. You people should tell him to reach out to me before I take action.”
This issue brings to light the ongoing challenges many artists face when it comes to protecting their creative output in an ever-evolving industry.
