The remains of Barrister ABK Offiah, a lawyer and prominent youth leader from Onitsha, have returned home after his tragic death at the hands of kidnappers. Offiah, who served as an aide to the Anambra Commissioner for Youths Development, Patrick Agha Mba, was killed during an attack while traveling with the Commissioner and his wife to Abuja. They were on their way to attend the wedding of Governor Soludo’s daughter.
The tragic incident occurred just a day after Offiah’s birthday, which he celebrated on August 15. The kidnappers shot Offiah dead while the Commissioner and his wife were taken hostage. Fortunately, the Commissioner and his wife have since been released, but the loss of Offiah has left the Onitsha community heartbroken.
Offiah, who held the traditional title of Kpajiego, was highly respected and well-known for his leadership in youth development. His untimely death has been met with mourning and sorrow throughout the region.
On Sunday, August 18, an ambulance carrying Offiah’s body arrived in Onitsha. A video shared on social media captured the emotional scene as residents gathered to mourn his passing. The sounds of wailing filled the air as family, friends, and community members came to pay their last respects to a man who had left a lasting impact on many lives.
Offiah’s death is a significant loss for the Onitsha community and the state as a whole. His contributions to youth development and his leadership will be remembered by all who knew him.
