In Kaduna, a police officer has been arrested after a video showing him attacking electricity workers went viral. Inspector Aminu Yahaya Bidda, stationed at Tudun Wada Police Station, was caught on tape brandishing a knife and threatening to stab staff from the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO).

The incident occurred during a routine inspection of Bidda’s prepaid meter at his home on Rimaye Road. The officer, who had rarely used electricity this year, became agitated and assaulted the KAEDCO workers. One passerby who tried to help was injured.

Following the incident, KAEDCO filed a formal complaint with the police, demanding Bidda’s arrest and thorough investigation. The company also asked for protection for its staff and urged that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a detailed probe.

KAEDCO condemned Bidda’s actions as unlawful and a threat to peace, calling for strict administrative actions and prosecution. The police commissioner has been asked to ensure the safety of utility workers during their duties.
