A recent land dispute in Niger State has escalated into a tragic incident, with the death of an immigration officer named Isah Mohammed. The confrontation occurred on August 14, 2024, in Lavun Local Government Area, which has been embroiled in a prolonged conflict between the Doko and Kupafu communities.

Isah Mohammed, an immigration officer from the Zhitsu Babi area of the Doko community, was on his farmland when he was attacked by a group of youths. These individuals, suspected to be from the rival Kupafu community, were involved in an ongoing land dispute with the Doko community. The attack took place in the late morning, around 11:30 AM, while Mohammed was tending to his property.

According to reports, Mohammed was struck violently and rendered unconscious by the assailants. Though police officers from the Doko Division quickly responded to the scene, they arrived too late to apprehend the attackers, who had already fled the area. Despite their prompt action, Mohammed was transported to Umaru Sanda General Hospital in Bida, where he was declared dead upon arrival.

The victim was unconscious when police operatives arrived at the scene, and he was subsequently rushed to Umaru Sanda General Hospital, Bida, where he was pronounced dead.”
