Cross River State Governor Hires 208 New Medical Personnel to Improve Healthcare

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has approved the hiring of 208 new medical professionals, including 31 doctors, 22 pharmacists, and 153 nurses, to address the shortage of medical staff in the state’s health sector.

Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, the State Commissioner for Health, confirmed the news in Calabar on Wednesday. He stated that this move demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of people in Cross River State.

Ayuk noted that there has been a significant increase in the number of people seeking services at state-owned public health facilities. This rise is due to the public’s growing confidence in the improved healthcare services provided by the current administration.

The commissioner explained that hiring new medical staff will help fill the gap in human resources in the Health Ministry. This will ensure that public health facilities across the state have the necessary manpower to provide clinical services effectively.
