Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, known as Charly Boy, has called on the country’s youth to step up their efforts in the ongoing EndBadGovernance protests. Charly Boy made this call on Tuesday in a post on his official X handle.
In his message, Charly Boy highlighted the urgency of the situation, urging the youth to understand the gravity of what they are fighting against. He described the current leadership as corrupt and indifferent to the people’s struggles, saying, “We are led by people who are thieves, dishonest, insane, intolerable, and don’t give a damn if we live or die.”
He encouraged the youth to amplify their efforts, saying, “This is the fight of our lives, and you guys are my bragging right. We can defeat this monster that has befallen us; we need to get louder and go pro max.”
The protests began last Thursday in response to the high cost of living and are expected to last for at least ten days. Despite President Bola Tinubu’s appeal in his nationwide broadcast on Sunday, protests continued on Monday across many states, demanding immediate action to reduce the prices of fuel, food, and other essential commodities.
However, the turnout on Tuesday was lower, allegedly due to the suppression by security operatives on Monday.
Charly Boy’s call to action aims to reignite the spirit of the protest and encourage the youth to persist in their fight for better governance and living conditions in Nigeria.
