Bobrisky, the well-known cross-dresser whose real name is Idris Okuneye, has been released from prison. After spending six months at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Bobrisky walked free on Monday around 10am.
Earlier this year, in April, Bobrisky was sentenced by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos. The sentence was due to charges of Naira abuse, and the judge made it clear that the ruling was meant to serve as a warning to others who might misuse the currency.
Bobrisky’s imprisonment began on March 24, the same day he was arrested. His release marks the end of a significant legal battle and raises questions about future legal and public challenges he might face.
