A tragic incident occurred in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, where a section of a nine-storey building under construction collapsed. Sadly, one person lost his life, and several others were injured.
Eyewitnesses reported that the deceased, a bricklayer, was working with a cement mixer on the ninth floor when the walls suddenly gave way, crushing him instantly. Local residents have raised concerns about the quality of the construction work and questioned whether the necessary approvals were obtained before the project began.
In response, the Delta State Commissioner of Urban Renewal, Michael Anoka, has ordered the building to be sealed off and an investigation to be conducted to determine the cause of the collapse.
This unfortunate event comes just days after another building collapse in Lagos, which claimed the lives of five individuals.
