In a shocking event in Nasarawa State, five people were killed when gunmen attacked a mosque in the Katakpa community early on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The victims, who were sleeping inside the mosque, were displaced individuals from nearby areas affected by recent violence. The attack happened around 2 am when the gunmen, who had left their motorcycles in the bush, entered the community and opened fire.
The assault attracted the attention of local soldiers who quickly responded. They engaged the attackers, resulting in several of them being killed.
In a separate incident the following day, on Thursday, July 25, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Aminu Adamu, was shot dead by suspected bandits while on duty along the Toto-Abaji road. According to a youth leader named Dubagari, another person was injured in the attack and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
