In a shocking turn of events, a 25-year-old man named Yahaya Balarabe has been arrested for killing his close friend, Usman, and stealing his motorcycle and N20,000 cash in Adamawa State.
The Incident
The tragic incident took place on July 17, 2024. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, Balarabe and Usman went to Usman’s farm in Dage Village, located in Ganye Local Government Area. The two were supposedly there to spray herbicides. However, Balarabe had other plans. He attacked Usman, stabbing him in the head with a cutlass, and then disposed of the body by throwing it into a gutter.
The Investigation
Usman’s family reported the matter to the police, leading to an investigation. The police operatives from the Ganye Divisional Police headquarters swiftly acted on the report. They discovered material evidence at the crime scene that pointed to Balarabe as the prime suspect. Upon his arrest, Balarabe voluntarily confessed to the crime. He admitted that his motive was to take possession of Usman’s motorcycle and the N20,000 cash.
Police Response
Expressing concern over the unfortunate incident, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the operatives for their effective detection of the crime. He praised their efforts in ensuring that the suspect could not escape justice.
