Charly Boy Reacts to Renaming of National Theatre after Soyinka – “I withdraw my respect”

Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, a long-time singer and prominent social activist, expressed his strong disapproval of the decision to rename the National Arts Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, after Nobel Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka.

He declared on his official social media platform on Friday that he would cease to accord respect to Wole Soyinka.

He wrote,

“Mighty have fallen, for beans”

“Uncle WOLE I henceforth withdraw all the respect I once had for you.

“When late Jimmyjohnson talked about you in the 90s, I thought he was only yabbing you.

“Wow! How some of our MIGHTYs have fallen, for beans, ewa, dodo, is it for rice’?
