Kenyan President William Ruto has announced the immediate dismissal of all cabinet secretaries and the Attorney General, excluding the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the cabinet secretary for diaspora affairs.
This decision follows protests that have persisted for two weeks, with demonstrators calling for Ruto’s resignation due to various grievances.
Notably, the Office of the Vice President and the Prime Cabinet Secretary remain unaffected by this cabinet reshuffle.
In a televised address, Ruto outlined his intention to initiate extensive consultations across diverse sectors and political groups. These efforts aim to establish a “broad-based” government focused on addressing national debt, enhancing domestic revenue generation, rooting out corruption, and expanding employment opportunities for the youth.
