Father Arrested for Chaining His 6-Year-Old Son in Bauchi

Mamuda Abubakar has been taken into custody by the Bauchi State Police Command for reportedly shackling his 6-year-old son inside a room at their Giade Local Government Area residence.

On Monday, July 8, the incident was verified by SP Ahmed Mohammed, the police spokeswoman. He claims that on Sunday, a report regarding the maltreatment of the youngster was turned in to the police. The youngster was saved by detectives who arrived on the scene promptly.

The results of the investigation showed that Abubakar and the boy’s mother had split up five years prior. According to Abubakar, he told his son not to go to his grandfather’s house because of worries about the kids. Abubakar became upset and chained the youngster when he insisted on going.

A complaint of the child abuse event was given to the police on July 7, 2024.

Mamuda Abubakar, a 30-year-old resident of Abbo, Chinkani Ward, Giade LGA, Bauchi State, was alleged to have shackled his son Adamu Mamuda, also known as Jumba, inside a room at their home on July 6, 2024, at approximately 5:20 PM.

Detectives were sent to the scene after receiving the report. After saving the youngster, they took Abubakar into custody, and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi is currently looking into him.

Bauchi State Police Command is dedicated to safeguarding the public, particularly youngsters who are more susceptible. They exhort the public to contact the closest police station to report any instances of abuse or maltreatment.
