In a radio interview with Philadelphia’s WURD, President Joe Biden misspoke, calling himself the first black woman to serve with a black president, confusing himself with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Biden was trying to emphasize Kamala Harris’s role as the first black female vice president under his presidency. He likely meant to refer to his time as vice president with Barack Obama.
Biden also mentioned appointing Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first black female Supreme Court justice, during his administration in 2022.
The interview came after a challenging week for Biden, following a difficult debate with Donald Trump. His actions are being closely watched due to his poor debate performance.
During the White House Fourth of July event, Biden made several errors and odd remarks, sometimes seeming confused. He greeted the crowd with “Ho ho ho! Happy Independence Day!” alongside First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.
Despite the criticism and calls for change, Biden insisted he will continue his campaign for re-election.
