Former President Olusegun Obasanjo Visits First Lady Oluremi Tinubu
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo met with Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday.
The meeting was announced by First Lady’s Media Aide, Busola Kukoyi, on X (formerly Twitter).
Photos of the meeting were shared, showing Obasanjo and Mrs. Tinubu together. Kukoyi mentioned that Obasanjo was there to celebrate the Sallah festival.
This visit happened just 48 hours after Obasanjo was seen wearing a cap with President Bola Tinubu’s logo.
A video showed Obasanjo wearing the cap at an event with African dignitaries, reported by INFOLAND
Despite coming from the same Southwest region, Obasanjo and Tinubu have different political views.
In the 2023 presidential election, Obasanjo supported Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Before the election, Tinubu had visited Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, seeking his endorsement, but Obasanjo chose to support Obi.
Obasanjo has been critical of Tinubu’s administration, particularly on its reforms and handling of the coup in Niger Republic.
