Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has shared that she ended her marriage because she was the one contributing more financially than her ex-husband.
In 2019, Jegede confirmed her separation from actor Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole, just a year after they got married.
In a preview of the upcoming episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, Jegede expressed regret for choosing love over financial stability. She mentioned that her ex-husband often felt disrespected by her jokes, partly due to their age difference, which contributed to their divorce.
She explained, “My ex-husband is eight years older than me. After we got married, if I joked with him by saying, ‘Are you crazy,’ he would feel disrespected. I wonder if he was the same person I married.
“But the main reason I left was that I was the one bringing in most of the money. I’m raising my son without much help. It’s tough. I should have chosen financial stability over love.”
