176 ‘Regretful’ Boko Haram Fighters Surrender to Join Task Force Troops

Over 170 individuals who were once Boko Haram fighters and say they’re sorry have given up their weapons to the troops of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in the Lake Chad region.

According to SaharaReporters, the terrorists left their hiding spots because the military was heavily attacking them in and around the basin.

Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the commander of MNJTF, shared this information during a press briefing in Ndjamena, Chad. He said the MNJTF troops also caught 57 terrorists in different operations around Lake Chad, which includes parts of Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon.

Gen Ali said.

“Military hardware, including sophisticated weapons and logistics were recovered from the terrorists during the operation.

“Air component of the operation from the Chadian, Nigerian and Cameroonian Airforce fighters neutralised several terrorists in their hideouts,”
 Gen Ali said.

“The success was recorded due largely to the supports of Defence chiefs from the Lake Chad countries,” the spokesperson for MNJTF, Col Abubakar Abdullahi, added.
